Looks like my text got deleted somewhere ? The question was: -We are trying to figure out how Profiles work in the desktop version on a per site/ per project basis. We had a circumstance where the Desktop was giving an error to a staff member, stating not sufficient permissions. For Sql Server- Do Profiles get selected on a per PROJECT basis -and then if picked, are the default profile for all users on that project? What happens if a SITE is picked instead? Or do profiles get picked on a per USER basis - and thats what the user will see when they open the next session regardless of project? What permissions are needed to control the Profile? We also occasionally see unusual behaviour where the button in the desktop lists one profile but when you pick the button it lists a seperate one as the set Profile.

Hi Justin, The Chem Profile is generally stored at the Project Level. It can be set in the ESdat Web interface for ESdat Server (under Projects). Also, however when a user with edit permissions to a project changes the profile in ESdat Desktop, it also sets that as the new default for that project. If there is a single possible chem profile that was stored against a project (or if a site was selected, the project(s) for that site), that is what will be used when the project/site is opened. Otherwise ESdat will revert back to the Chem Profile the user most recently explicitely selected under "Chem Profile". Having taken a look, it appears possible if the user is using a Chem Profile that has been obtained from the project, and then clicks Chem Profile, that their most recently explicitely selected chem profile will then be shown on the form that loads, which could be confusing. The profile can only be edited by one of the "Profile Owners", or an admin user. For any error messages, we would need to get all the normal details including screen shots. http://www.ESdat.net/ESdatHelp/index.html?database_problems_or_bugs.htm Regards, Warwick
