Hello,

I have data that, due to the value/unit, is coming out on chem tables in scientific notation (e.g. 1,600,000 ug/L comes out as 1.6E6). I am easily able to change the excel formatting to 'number' and show the full value, but my concern is that ESdat isn't flagging the results as exceedances. For example, my guideline is 790,000 ug/L. A result of 950,000 ug/L gets flagged, but the values over a million are not. Is there a way to correct this rather than having to fix it manually each time? I have been through my excel settings and googled it at length, and it seems to be an ESdat issue.

Also, changing to mg/L is not an option as this whole set of standards is in ug/L and ug/g and I need the output units to match the standards. It's just a pain for my chloride and sodium results. Thanks!

Alyssa

Hi Alyssa,

There is an option on a delimiter to use for large numbers does modifying that help with this issue?

Are you using ESdat with the Server or Access database?

FYI, just to make sure you are aware, if you did change the output units to mg/L for that compound both the standards and the results would be converted accordingly.

Regards,

Warwick

Hi Warwick,

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay in noticing it. I have the delimeter set use commas for values >1000 and  I am using ESdat with the SQL Server.

I found a solution for now. I was used to auto-formatting my exceedances for efficiency. If I output the table, change scientific notation values to numbers, then apply exceedance formatting, it works. That's good enough for now I suppose.

And I understand the conversion, but we want the units to be shown in ug/L so it matches the applicable standards and is consistent with the rest of the metals/inorganics output.

Thanks!

Alyssa
