I am getting an error (Object Variable or With block variable not set) when I try to create a blank import template (Standard Bore Log or Geotech Bore Log). The template generates after I click on the error button, but is not complete (all tabs before Boreholes_Samples are missing). SampleCode equation on the Borehole_Samples tab results in an error (#SPILL).

2020-01-08.png (147kb) downloaded 2 time(s).

Borehole Template_Error.xlsm (85kb) downloaded 5 time(s).

Hi Nick,

Do  you get that with other import Templates (eg Location) or just the Bore Logging ones?

Was it working previous to some changes or customisation being made?

If just the bore logging ones try to reset the Sample Fields that show in the Import Template under Setup - Geology.

Only the borehole logging templates. Resetting sample fields did not help.

It is likely that this is related to some customozation, but at this point, I am not sure what change I would have made that resulted in this error, since it has been quite a while since I tried using htese templates.

How do I reset the database to default and can that be done without affecting data (which is mainly test data at this point)?

Nick

Hi Nick,

The Borehole Import(s) generate Import Templates for all of the "Borehole" tables, such as "Borehole_Depth_Comments".  If you generate them individually for that table do you get the error for one of those?

If using a server database I'd encourage you not to make changes directly on the database, but if you do to make the change is via a Script and to keep a record of the changes.  That will help diagnose or revert if something goes wrong, particularly for onsite databases that we can't directly access.

Regards,

Warwick

Warwick,

This issue is present when using a SQL database or an Access database, so it seems unlikely to me that this is a result of a change I made in the SQL database.

I have tried opening every tempate. In both scenarios, the following will not open and result in ESdat locking up. These are all opened using the blue buttons and are not in the scrolling list. All of the templates in the scrolling list open properly.

Field Parameters

Historical Chem

Standard Bore Log

Geotech Bore Log

Thanks Nick,

Can you open the “Sample” access database in ESdat and confirm you also get the error there, and then send the excel file generated?  Is it the same error as what you sent previously?

Is this the first time you've tried to generate import templates for any of these, or were they working fine previously on that PC?

Many thanks,

Warwick

Warwick,

Same problem with the sample database. Sample outputs attached for Field Parameters, Historical Chem, and Standard Bore Log. Could not generate a Geotech Bore Log. All templates have the same error in the SampleCode Field (#SPILL!). The equation is incorrect - missing the @ symbol before the array ranges.

Do you think I should try migrating license to another computer? Possibly an incompatibility with a recent Microsoft update?

Field Parameters.xlsm (46kb) downloaded 2 time(s). Historical Chem.xlsm (60kb) downloaded 2 time(s). Standard Bore Log.xlsm (101kb) downloaded 1 time(s).

Hi Nick,

The equation shouldn't have an @ in it, they look fine except that the equation is surrounded by squiggly brackets {}.  I've not seen that happening before, it's not coming from ESdat.

If ignoring the error message and deleting those squiggly brackets from the equation works fine you can do that in the interim.

This does sound like some issue in a recent Excel update, and typically these get resolved in a week or two by a subsequent Excel patch, or you could set your PC to a previous "Restore Point" before the patch.

Regards,

Warwick
