Is there a way to get ESdat to do depth conversions? For example, if I log all my data in ft and this is then displayed in the sampled to and from columns, when I generate a table is it possible to get it to display the depth in metres instead?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

ESdat doesn't automatically convert feet to meters, it is recommended that you be consistent in usage for each project.

If you really do want to import depths in feet and have them output in meters then you can modify to database query that you are outputting through to divide the numbers by the relevant factor.  Each output through ESdat is actually a database query that you can modify if you have Microsoft Access installed on your PC.

Sincerely,

Alex

Hello PG,

You will need to open the database in Access, open the particular Query you want to modify (Query names in Access match the views under the Data-Type buttons in ESdat), and edit the Query in Design View to do a depth conversion (ie divide by 3.x).

Depth is used in quite a few outputs (chemistry, water depths etc..) so you will want to make sure you modify all relevant queries.

You will need some general knowledge of Access to do that, and if you havn't used Access I would recommend getting some basic knowledge - the Access help files have tutorials.

Alex.
