Lat/Long Conversion/Projection Error

Hi, ESdat Desktop and Server versions. I imported the location ID and coordinates NAD83_UTM_zone_10N. However, those coordinates, and the converted lat/long coordinates showed the locations in the Caribbean. I have already imported field data and lab data. How can I correct the coordinates so that the mapping will work properly? I have a set of GIS-converted lat/long that I would like the mapping to refer to, if the NAD83 state plane coordinates cannot be projected correctly. Thanks, Lynette

Hi Lynette, The coordinate system setup in ESdat is the default UTM zone with EPSG code 26910. It doesn't reflect state based planes. ESdat uses the EPSG of the coordinate system set for the Site to do the conversion.
What coordinate system did you use to generate the lat/longs in GIS? If you want to setup your own coordinate systems for use in ESdat, you can do this by adding them to zRef_Coordinate_Systems. You just need to give them a name and set the correct EPSG code. You can also just upload coordinates in Lat/Long by setting this as the coordinate system for the Site. Just remember when importing or updating the coordinates the lat=y-coord and long = x-coord. Thanks, Nick
