Extending the maximum length of the Well ID field?

ESdat_Well ID Error.PNG (30kb) downloaded 1 time(s).Hi ESdat, I am having issues with the maximum length of the "Well" field. At the moment my ESdat database only accepts well IDs with a maximum character limit of 10. This is causing issues as I frequently exceed this and to shorten the adoped well IDs to 10 characters would result in a loss of meaning in most cases. The specific error message I get when importing data is "Incorrect data type or text too long". I'm hoping to increase it by a relatively small amount (e.g. 15 characters), but I don't know where to start. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great! I have Microsoft Access but relatively limited knowledge on database editing.
Thanks, Harry

Hi Harry, The Well ID is only intended for use when you have nested well installations to differentiate between the different screen intervals. It's not expected that you would duplicate the Location Code in this field for each Well.
If you don't have nested wells, the default value of '-' (a single dash) should be used. You can see a visual representation of this in the user manual here: https://ESdat.net/ESdatHelp/index.html?wells.htm Thanks, Nick Edited by user Wednesday, January 19, 2022 10:57:30 AM(UTC)
