Thanks: 1 times
I was hoping that you could provide some insight into a problem we have been having exporting ESdat files into Excel. The error box that pops up reads: Too many columns are being exported (max of 250 columns in Excel), try exporting less data or use a different data orientation. Our laboratory reports have approx. 360 analytes, while it is possible to export with the chemical names vertical, to match our reporting format we need to have the chemical names across the top of the spreadsheet.

You can only export chemistry tables with greater than 250 columns if you have

  1. Excel 07 or Excel 2010 (earlier versions of Excel had a maximum of 255 columns), and
  2. the SQL Server version of ESdat (Access databases still have a maximum of 255 columns).

We are running Excel 2007, and using the SQL Server database, however are still unable to output more than 255 columns.

I have tried deleting all of the templates that are in 97-2003 format, but every time I restart ESdat, it regenerates the old template and will not use the newer version template.

We have a lot of tables that exceed 255 columns and it is time consuming to "stitch" them together - is there a particular "trick" to getting ESdat to output to the newer template?

Hello,

The trick is that the template file needs to be saved as .xlsm (ie Chemistry_Output_Table_Template.xlsm).

Alex.
