Merging rows in chemistry tables

Hi, In ESdat desktop, it is possible to produce a table that has all results for the same sampled date and location in a single row, even if the data are across multiple SampleCodes. When we try to do the same thing in ESdat online it comes out with multiple rows (one for each SampleCode). Is there any way to merge the data into a single row for each Location/Sampled_Date combination in ESdat online? The export table function of ESdat Desktop has been broken for a while so we no longer have this option. Thanks!

To give some context, on many of our major projects we report on field parameters and laboratory results in the same table and don't want to have 2 rows for each sample. We also have sites with large volumes of historical data, sometimes across multiple SampleCodes for the same sample.

Hi Michael,
This is because the sample codes for the field and lab samples are different – this is unique and will determine which row a sample is shown on. Moving forward, if your lab is willing to include the field data in your lab report using the same Sample Code as their lab data, then this should certainly present the data on the same row in the Chem Tables.
Kind regards,
Claire

Hi Claire, Thanks you for your response. I am aware of what is causing the error. I was looking for a solution to this issue, as we have large historical datasets where the results for single samples are already in the database as multiple sample codes.
As I mentioned before, this is a function that is already available in ESdat desktop so I would like for it to also be possible in online.
The other option would be to fix chem table exporting in desktop? If you would like us to move to the online UI we really need to have the functionality that we've always had in desktop. This is used all the time in reporting.

Hi Michael,
Sounds like the samples have been accidentally duplicated during import of the historical data. We may be able to include functionality to consolidate duplicated samples in the data in a future update, but for the moment the only resolution would be to clean the historical data so there is only one sample entered per sample. Kind regards, Claire

Hi Claire,
The data is in fact correct. It's for circumstances where Lab's may have returned two (or more ) Sample Codes due to different suites being sampled but it all pertains to a single Field_ID. The other occurrence is where FIELD results have the same Field_ID as the lab results but belong to different samples. In all these options staff want to see a single row for the results (BY FIELD_ID) instead of multiple rows.
The desktop ESdat would return this chem table when Field_ID was chosen and SampleCode was turned off. It would be highly desirable for the same functionality to be available in the Web Chem table output.
