I have a situation where I have some field chemistry, that includes some alphanumeric data, e.g. turbidity, colour and odour. Is there a way we can capture this in ESdat?

All textual descriptions would need to go into the Sample Comments or the Matrix_Description fields. Chemistry Results require a numerical value, although these can have textual comments associated with it. Regards, Warwick

Hi, I attempted several times to upload the attached file that contains field data. I found ChemCodes matching the columns, but still got a variety of errors (Mismatch, Must be True). At last, it seems to have worked as the cells turned green; however, this data does not appear in the ESdat database! I tried changing "Odour" for "Matrix_Description", "Present" for "1" or "TRUE", green and/or purple cells to no fill, but nothing of this allows to upload the data. Any cues? Eliane (for NJacques) File Attachment(s): EsDatEntry3.xls (33kb) downloaded 1 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Try to login or register.

Hello, The best way to confirm data is in the database is firstly, the cells have turned green, as they have, but you can also check under "Chem Tracking" to see the data through the main ESdat interface. All these cells are green, so ESdat will not try to import these cells again while they are coloured green (you can clear the green colouring using standard Excel tools if you wish). It's possible that the data may not be outputting through the Water/Other Chemistry outputs due to unit conversion issues, which is probably the case here. The Check Units button on the main screen as well as the QA Checker will identify any issues. The Check Units button also allows you to fix them. NAPL data can be input here, as you have done, or it can also be entered with groundwater dip readings in the Water level table.
