Hi,

Recently we completed an upgrade to Win7 64-bit desktops running Office 2010.  Users are now having problems printing out some of the tables that are created in excel using excel macros.  The tables print properly, but the lines that are between the cells are all of varying degrees of thickness.

I have isolated the issue as specific to only those documents that ESdat directly exports to, because I can copy and paste the contents of the document into a blank new .xlsx worksheet and it will print fine on the new worksheet (and all of the lines will print with the proper thickness).

Are there office 2010 or windows 7 compatibility issues with ESdat?  We are using the SQL database as opposed to the access one.  What is the minimum version number required for compatibility?

Thanks!

Hello Dave,

We're not aware of any issue with the new Office 2010, even for earlier versions.  However, I'll forward your observations and have it looked into.

Sincerely,

Alex

Hi Alex, I have previously spoke to Warwick about other issues that we had with ESdat (this was several monthes ago) - could you perhaps email me his contact email address, or telephone number? I am aware of the time difference. Thanks. dave DOT donley AT lvs1 DOT com

Hello Dave,

Further to this.  Copying and pasting data to a new workbook will often make the lines look different, this occurs in all versions of Excel.  This is because the lines can be setup in the template file, or after export.  See this from the help file.

The colour of the grid-lines can be customised, either in the template or after export.

In Excel 10:                        File - Options - Advanced - Scroll Down, Gridline Color

In Excel 07:                        Office Button - Excel Options - Advanced - Scroll Down, Gridline Color

Previous versions:                Tools - Options - View - Color

I realise it perhaps isn't the color per-se you are referring to, however this may give you some insight.

We'd be happy to look at a 2010 file that is exported from ESdat that has the borders concern you have.  If you still have the previous version of Excel on the PC an export into that version may also help (if you have it open during the export that version will get used)

Alex
