Lab duplicates - calculation of RPD values in QA reports

ESdat doesn't seem to be calculating RPD values in lab duplicates correctly. The results that I get from the QA reports are inconsistent with the final reports issued by the lab. I have done the following things to make sure my data is in the right place: - Checked Sample_Type is set as 'LAB_D'
- Checked that the Parent_Sample is set correctly
- RPD acceptability is set at 50% for all values
What else can I do to ensure these duplicates are reported correctly? If you could explain what fields are used when calculating the RPDs in the QA checker I can go through them and make sure they are all correctly populated. I am aware that there is a rounding issue in the way the RPDs are reported by the lab, but this is irrelevant. I have calculated the RPDs manually from the data that is currently in ESdat and have got RPDs over 50% which the QA checker doesn't report. Thanks, J

Hello, The lab duplicates check only shows results and RPD values for non-conforming RPD values. This is different to the Field Duplicates report, which shows all values. If non-conforming results and RPD values are shown you can confirm the RPD calculation is correct by manually calculating the RPD using the normal formulae. However, I think your issue is that you are expecing some non-conformancing results to be shown and their aren't any? Firstly, check your setting for acceptable RPD's, in particular check the EQL multiplier that applies to the acceptable RPD's. The default minimum multiplier is 5, which means that for result less that 5 time the EQL no comparison is made to a RPD value. This is because RPD values become meaningless at low concentrations relative to the EQL. You can change this value to 1, or 0, if you prefer. Secondly, check that the QA Report item "Duplicate Samples with incorrect or missing Parent Samples" has 0 issues. Regards, Warwick
