Hi, we are in the process of importing historical data into ESdat using the historical chemistry import spreadsheet. One of the fields we wanted to include is the monitoring round. What is the easiest way to do this without having to go through all the data in ESdat and update the monitoring round? Can the historical chemistry import spreadsheet be ammended to include sampling round (i.e. will this be recognised during import).

Hello Mark, The field names provided (LocCode, Sampled_Date-Time etc..) can be modified in the Excel Import Template by clicking the field name and selecting an alternative from the drop-down. Different defaults be set under Setup - Chemistry - Sample Fields Shown - Historical Chemistry. Alex

Is there a way to import historical field duplicates? I did as you suggested here to add/change the columns for sample_type and Parent_Sample but when I try to import the sheet, I get the message: "One or more values are prohibited by the validation rule ''Normal' Or 'Field_D' Or 'Interlab_D' Or 'Field_B' Or 'Trip_B' Or 'Rinsate' Or 'Composite (2 Samples)' Or 'Composite (3 Samples)' Or 'Composite (4 Samples)' Or 'Trip_S' Or 'TSC' Or 'MS' Or 'MS_D' Or 'MB' Or 'SB' Or 'LCS' Or 'SRM' Or 'CRM' Or 'Lab_D' Or 'L' set for 'Chemistry_Samples.Sample_Type'. Enter a value that the expression for this field can accept." I am assuming this is because the macro for selecting the parent sample code is not designed work in the historical import template but I have manually entered the data to be the way it is when the macro adjusts it. Is there any way to import these duplicats? Thank you, Theresa

Hello Theresa, You need to make sure that the values you have entered into "Sample_Type" are one of the accepted values, ie Field_D for Field Duplicates. In the Parent Sample Column you need to enter/paste the SampleCode of the Parent Sample. Importing lab data has a different workflow, which does pretty much what you describe above, but prompts users through it. Alex
