whenever i try and export an ESdat query to an ArcGIS shapefile i get the following error message Run-time Error '424': Object Required then ESdat closes completely... all of the other export options at least open a dialog box and offer some options for exporting to the selected format except for the esri option. is there anything i can do to successfully export to a shapefile? Thanks Alex BlueSphere attached the following image(s): esdat error arcgis.jpg (192kb) downloaded 16 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Try to login or register.

Hello Alex, Are you getting this error immediately upon clicking the ArcMap icon, before you get the form shown in the attachment? What is the version number of ESdat and ArcView that you have? Alex. Edited by user Friday, February 17, 2012 8:20:49 PM(UTC)

Hi Alex,
I am getting this error immediately after clicking on the ArcMap button, i dont get a dialog box such as the one in yourt screen shot, just the run time error.
this also happened at the previous consultancy i worked at before starting at Bluepshere in January.
i am running ArcMap version 10 and ESdat 4.3.10
Thanks

Hello Alex, It is concerning to hear that you've also experienced it on another PC. We havn't had any reports of this issue previously, so can't offer any immediate advice. However, we are going to review that export to try to obtain more useful error information, and add extra error trapping. I will keep you informed when that is available. Sincerely, Alex.

ok i think the problem is that ESdat doesnt like it when i try and export to ArcGIS from the SChem2_environmental_Standards tab on the soil rock chemistry tab. I have had some success exportring from the SChem1_Chemistry tab, the formatting of the highlighted exceedences also carries over into teh labelling in ArcGIS which... which is just great. It would be ideal to run queries where i can filter by concentrations that are >= min action level. ill let you know how i get on when i start running more complicated queries and try to export a shapefile with multiple exceedences.

Hello Alex, Thankyou for providing the extra details, without them a resolution probably would have taken a lot longer to work out, so all little details are appreciated. We can look into that. In the meantime you can filter foronly exceedances using one of the map labelling options, which will have the same effect as using the second SChem view. Alex.

Hello Alex, That has now been fixed, and you can download an update from the web-site. The recommended way to show only exceedances in GIS is to use the "Exceedances Only" option on the label form in ESdat's internal GIS. If that is selected the export to ArcGIS will only show exceedances of the specified guidelines. The "Standards" views are a hangover from when before this option was available, and are left there for the conveniance of those who have gotten used to them. Your Truely, Alex
