Hi guys,

I have searched the forum and looked at the help documents but can't find anything then helps answer my query.

Just wondering if it's possible to change what template each of the 'Blank Import Template' buttons load under the 'Import' tab of ESdat, and how you would go about getting a button to load a new template instead of an existing one.

I.e. we have made a new template for 'Field' which can be accessed through the 'All Data Tables' list, but it would be handy if the 'Field' button loaded this new template rather than the existing one.

Cheers,

Michael.

Hello Michael,

For information about customising the Field Chemistry Import Template see http://www.ESdat.net/ESd...ting_field_chemistry.htm

If you have added a custom table to the database it will appear under "All Tables", and you can import into it as you describe.  However, that will only import data into your custom table, it is not an alternative way of importing chemistry data.

Alex

Thanks Alex,

I probably didn't explain myself too well originally! The template side of things is fine, we have created a new custom template. What I was really looking for is whether you can actually change the interface.

When in ESdat under the 'Import' tab it comes up with the blue, brown and orange boxes each with a bunch of different buttons (e.g. Locations, Wells, Laboratory, PLog, Enviro Standards etc) that load the different templates.

I want to make the 'Field' button load our new custom template rather than the existing template within ESdat.

The new template can be accessed through the 'All Data Tables' list, but it would be handy to be able to get the 'Field' button to open our custom template rather than the existing one if possible (also saves other people using the wrong import template by mistake).

Cheers,

Michael.

Hi Michael,

It's a strange approach to managing your field chemistry.  However, in answer to your question, no the Field Chemistry Import button cant be reconfigured to create Import Templates for custom data tables.

Ok thanks Alex.

The data is managed in the same way as normal, just that we are putting the data into a template with slightly different data columns to those in the standard template.  We can then produce excel tables in the specific format we require for reporting purposes.

Thanks,

Michael.
