I would like to create some basic post import calcs to convert water depth to water elevation for example. Can anyone explain how to do this or direct me to some literature. Thanks

Hello,ESdat will calculate a water elevation for you given a depth to water level and a reference point (Top of Casing or surface elevation). Thi is output under the "Water Levels button." Top of Casing is a Well property, and hence is entered into the Wells table. Depth to Water and product are entered into the water levels table. ('Groundwater_and_NAPL_levels' in SQL Server versions). If you have entered water depth as a "Chemistry_Result" rather than in the Water Levels Table, there is no automated conversion. A post import custom calculation could do it, but they are complex to generate and require knowledge of Access or SQL Server SQL, so mostly people engage EScIS to generate one, which is done on a fees basis. In general we recommend waterlevels be stored in the table specifically provided for that purpose.

ok thanks, Will the equation work the other way as some of the piezometer logger boxes we download calculate and output water elevation data and we would like to display this as water depth. Where can I find information on other equations that already exist in the software? Cheers

Hi, I've created a post import custom calculation based on one of the 20 existing ones that came with ESdat. My problem is I don't know how to execute it, Can you point me to some literature as to how to do so?
Note : It executes properly when I test it in access. there is a zref_post_import_Custom_calculation table with 5 columns in it, in the ESdat db. Does a record need to be created in that table for each post_import_custom_calculation. If so, what goes into each field? Cheers

Hi Murray, After it is imported it will execute automatically after chemistry data is imported. It can also be triggered to run under Setup - Chemistry. Regards Warwick

Thanks Warwick, To clarify, Once the lab results are imported, I have to go into Post Import Calcs and click run in order to get the post import calc to execute. I am unable to see where I set the Post Import Calc execute automatically. Under Setup -> Chemistry, there are six different menu selections I've looked in each and still do not see where this option is set. Am I looking in the right place? Thanks in advance, Murray

Hi Murray, Sorry, it was previously under Setup - Chemistry, but in the current version it is only under "Import". Once lab results are imported the post import calcs will run automatically. Warwick

Hi Warwick, Does something need to be set in the zref_post_import_custom_calculations table? The columns are Calc_id [Value = 20], Version [Value = 1] and Order [Value = 0]. Does Order need to NOT be 0? Murray

Hi Murray, The Version and Order entered into the Post Import Custom Calc file can be any number you like. Calcs will be executed using the Order value. Mostly the order in which they are executed are irrelevant, so any number is fine. Each Post Import Custom Calchas it's own unique Calc ID number (eg 1,2,3 etc..). Regards, Warwick
