Folks, Am attempting to use a relative path link to file in SQL SERVER version of ESdat. have set up a field in location table called Link_path and when i clicked it - it enabled me to select a file and store the path . However I would like to have staff also open the log from the ESdat front end - and it doesnt appear to respond to double clicking. Is this possible? I'm preferring this method over importing it into a document in the database, as I also want the data to logged once and also viewed in a GIS front. Currently ArcGIS is automatically picking up the link from the relative path set in ESdat - and opening the file. I just cant get ESdat front end to also open it.

Yes, if you add a custom field ending in "path" and enter a path, double clicking will open the file in whichever program on your PC is associated with the file extension. However, if you are using the SQL Server version we recommend you use the "Site Documents" table to store documents related to a Site or a Location. Warwick
