Hi. Every time i try to create a chemistry output table, ESdat gives me a "570 type mismatch". It seems to be affectin the linkage between Excel and ESdat. How can I solve this?

Hello,

I can't be sure this is the reason, but we did log this as an issue some 6 months ago.  Recent updates should have fixed it, so perhaps try running an update if you are running less than version 4.1.

At that time it was related to a stats calculation.  If turning off stats and comments solves the issue then it will be that issue.

If you dont find that is the issue then let me know and I will refer for a further look.

Best Regards,

Alex

Hi Alex

I have Excel 2007 and ESdat Version 4.3.18.

I get "Type Mismatch" (no 570) when I export a chem table with stats selected. I don't normally select these but need the statistics this time and I used to get them last year. Unfortunately, I can't get them when the error appears - all stats = 0.

I've worked out that Excel 2010 produces stats even though the error message appears. But I wonder whether this error may affect the results ie can i trust the statistics, and what does the error message mean?

How can I fix this (or is it only when I upgrade excel)?

 Thanks

Barbara

Hello Barbara,

Are you able to uninstall ESdat, ensure the installation folder is empty or removed (it is typically c:\Program Files\ESdat) and then reinstall ESdat from http://www.ESdat.net/Download_ESdat.aspx.  If you still get it after that we may need to see the actual database, and I can send details for that if necessary.

Hi Alex

I did as you suggested and it didn't work (on any dataset including the sample and contam trial database), however, I did it on a colleague computer and it removed the issue. I think there is something wrong with the way it speaks to 07 Excel and I'm upgrading my computer this afternoon to 2010 Excel.

I think most of my issues stem from using the old Microsoft (ie 12630 unable to set the freeze panes property of the window class) which don't appear on my colleagues computer, so hopefully I won't have anymore tricky issues :)

Thanks for your help

Barbara

Hi Alex

I upgraded to Excel 2010 but the error persists. I think the only other reason may be that I am using Windows XP as the operating system and others in the office are using Windows 7 Enterprise. Unless you can suggest anything else that may be the reason?

 Thanks

Barbara

Hello Barbara,

You mention a "Freeze Panes" error.  Can you check that the Chemistry Output Table Template file you are using is the same as for your collegues that don't get this error? (? button on top right of the export form will give you the template path).

Alex

Hi Alex

When I updated my colleagues computer (uninstall/reinstall) the template path changed automatically to where the licence is kept on the server over east, whereas mine reconnected to template (not licence) here in WA. I've changed mine to match the licence path and I now don't have an issue with the freeze pane. We had originally wanted different templates but the east has adopted a similar style to ours so it's not an issue anymore.

Thanks again

Babs

Hello Barbara,

The issue with your particular Chemistry Output Table Template file is most likely that it was saved in Print Layout or similar mode, it needs to be saved in "Normal" View.
