Could you please advise if you will be releasing the draft NEPM Schedule B1 Guidelines (http://www.ephc.gov.au/sites/default/files/Schedule_B1__Guideline_on_Investigation_Levels_for_Soil_and_Groundwater__SEP10.pdf) and the CRC Care health screening levels (http://www.crccare.com/publications/downloads/CRC-CARE-Tech-Report-10-Summary.pdf) in ESdat format on your Environmental Standards web page any time soon?

Thanks and regards.

Hi Andrew,

We are expecting the draft NEPM guidelines to be finalised any day (happy to receive any guidance if that isn't the case) and will be compiling the final version when it comes available.

We'll look into the CRC Care one, I hadn't been aware of it and it appears to be final.  Do you know if the final NEPM might look more like this than the current draft NEPM (the authors are substantially the same)?

Also, it will be important that you correctly specify the sample depths (and potentially the matrix - ie sand, clay etc..) for each sample as the new NEPM will require that different standards apply to different depths and possibly matricies, so if you dont take care with these, now would be good to start doing so.  Have a look at the "depth based guidelines" section on page 2 of http://www.ESdat.net/newsletters/2011_Q3.pdf .

I will also plug PLog here, as in addition to getting your borelogs straight from the field it will take care of this information for your lab samples.

It looks like the first "Draft NEPM" is now unlikely to be adopted, as the CRC document (same authors) is so different, and is proposed to replace it. Thus we have ceased work on the Draft NEPM and wont be adding it to our library.

We understand the CRC document is a research/interim document at this point as regards NEPM, and is subject to further change before being adopted into NEPM.

Given the significant ongoing changes to the various proposed replacements for the current NEPM we would be looking for a final version before compiling it for our library.  However, if this document is formally adopted by a jurisdiction (ie state or federal) we will compile it

We are keen to keep on top of this so if anyone else has any knowledge that may be usefult to share please feel free to contribute.

Warwick
