Transfering EQwin database to ESdat

Hello, I am transfering data from a database created in EQWin to ESdat by exporting data from the Access database and inputing it into an ESdat import template for chemistry samples. Some of the data has imported however the majority has not, with the error message: “Cant Create Parent Record. Parent Record missing in table 'Lab_Reports'.” What is the best way to address this message?
Thanks very much,
Jessica

Hello Jessica, As with all parent record errors a preferred resolution is to create the parent record. In this case you would enter that lab report into the "Lab_Reports" table. Often users may decide to use the "Create Missing Parent Record" option, which will create a parent record, unless there is some issue preventing it. If there is some issue then the best resolution is the preferred resolution above. In this case, if the Lab_Report column is populated the Lab_Name column will also need to be populated for ESdat to be able to automatically create that "Parent Record", as the Lab_Name is a required field in Lab_Reports. It is likely that in this instance, that is the cause of the error. The resolution then would be to populate the Lab_Name column in the data you are importing (typically the column is next to your Lab_Report_Number column). I hope that helps you resolve it. Warwick
