Hi,

It has been noted on one of our databases we're working with at the moment, that when the data is output into the chem table and cells are cleaned to be used for calculations etc., even though the format has been set to number, the cells do not act as a number format. It is only until each cell is double clicked on that they revert to number format.

Any ideas on why this would be happening?

Data that we are working from are from late 2011-2012, would this affect the formatting?

  Thanks :)

Hello Emma,

If you try to use Excel formulaes, such as "=AVERAGE(Q8:V8)" on a range of cells that is exported from ESdat as a ChemTable you will get an error as Excel thinks they are text.

If you reference those cells and multiply by 1 (ie = Q8*1) then the result should be a number, so you could do that and then do the stats on your calculated cell/column/row.

However, the ESdat Clean Cells Utility will refresh all cells in any Excel Range and make sure Excel recognises numbers as numbers, not text (although you will still have an issue for non detects with a "<" prefix).  Please see http://www.ESdat.net/ESd...html?excel_utilities.htm

Regards,

Warwick
