Consistent chem codes for gross parameters (British Columbia)

I have noticed that the Chemistry Lookup file posted on the ESdat website has some inconsistencies with regard to the chem codes for British Columbia gros parameters. For example. light extractable petroleum hydrocarbons: only LEPH (generic) heavy extractable petroleum hydrocarbons: HEPH, HEPHs and HEPHw (a mixture of generic and matrix-specific) volatile petroleum hydrocarbons: VPHs, VPHV and VPHw (matrix-specific only). This creates problems for importing lab data from the lab and requires chem-code assignments each time (tedious and error-prone). I strongly suggest making them consistently generic or matrix-specific. I recommend the latter, as this is how the BC regulations spell the names (unfortunately). Ilya

What is the file you are referring to? ChemCodes for Petroleum Hydrocarbon fractions in BC has been very difficult to get any consensus on, within the userbase, and also within the labs. In the interim, to address the potential for errors in the manual assigning, there is an option “Add as an alt name to auto match” on the “Associate Chem Codes” form, which you use to resolve ChemCode issues during import. If you select this when matching a ChemCode the name of the compound used by the lab will be added to the “Alternative Names” stored in the zRef_Chemistry_Lookup table, and will be automatically matched on the “Associate Chem Codes” form.
