Hello

I am a user from the UK, the preferred co-ordinate system on our little island is OSGB36.  Whenever I enter OSGB36 x_coord and y_coord location data in to ESdat, it automatically calculates an incorrect Lat/Long which places in in the South Pacfic Ocean off the East coast of New Zealand.

Using a famous landmark as an example.  Big Ben's (Elizabeth Tower) XY co-ordinates using the OSGB36 grid are roughly 530276, 179640.  The correct Lat/Long co-ordinates for this in decimal degrees are roughly 51.500719, -0.124455.  However, the automatically generated co-ordinates using ESdat's algorithm come out to -34.388231501358, -153.53087715397.  If you put the automatically generated co-ordinates in to Google Earth it will take you roughly 2560 km to the NE of New Zealand in the South Pacific Ocean.

I have contacted EScIS support and they haven't been able to suggest a solution to this, so I was wondering whether there were any users who have had similar issues using the OSGB36 grid, and what solutions they came up with in order to show the location data in the correct place.

I have been advised that I should use Lat/Long going forward, but unfortunately this is not really an option for us as we rely heavily on other software that has been set up to use OSGB36.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

James
