Hi All,

Sorry to be asking such a basic question, however I have only been using ESdat a few weeks, and there are no-other users (yet!) here.

I am just having some trouble entering a unit conversion from mg/L to ug/L

I don't know what to type as I keep getting error messages. I know that the conversion is to multiply by 1000 but I'm not sure how to tell ESdat to do this.

Could someone please help?

Thanks

Libby

Hello Libby,

Check Units allows you to enter a conversion so ESdat can convert between your measurement units and output units.   To convert between mg/L and ug/L a conversion of 1000 would be entered in the "Conversion" column.

The tutorial section “Chemistry Lookup Table and Output Units” covers usage of this, and if you haven’t done so you may like to look at that section.

The tutorial is available from within the Help file (Help - Contents), or when you open the “Sample Hydrogeology and Contam” project.

Regards,

Alex

Hi Alex,

I'm still a little confused.

I think what I'm trying to understand is how ESdat knows whether to divide or multiply the converstion factor.

From your response, I have made the assumption that ESdat will always MULTIPLY by the conversion factor entered, so if i were going back the other way for instance (ug to mg) I would have to enter 0.001, rather than 1000?

Is that correct?

Thanks

Hello Libby,

Yes, that is correct, ESdat will multiply the result in measurement units by the conversion factor to get the result in Output Units.

Regards,

Alex
