As I understand it - the Consolidate Chem Codes funtion allows you to redirect incoming chemistry to the appropriate Chemcode. 

However - what do you do with SQL Server version if a second Chemcode has been created accidently in the system for an Analyte? 

I want to delete the error record. Ive converted all the Chemistry incorrectly allocated to the right chemcode via a SQL UPDATE statement -- and then when I go to the ZRef_Chemistry_Lookup table to delete the duplicate chem record - i keep getting the message "A comment is required for deletion'  -with no way to actually add the said comment. 

At the moment - - i think im going to go into the table in SSMS, disable the triggers then delete the row that way. Seems a bit of a heavy handed way to do it though.. Is there a better solution?

I was assuming the consolidation tool might do that, but it wasnt clear if it was also purging the existing chemcode from the lookup table. 

I'll double check its behaviour once we upgrade the server end.
