When a user opens a Lab file via the desktop  -its now popping up with a message

Do you wish to add new Chem Code 'X" to zref_Chemistry_Lookup

instead of waiting for the Chem Picker to search and allocate a correct existing one. Its also doing this first when you select the Picker.  This is from what i can tell - relatively new behaviour -and quite dangerous, as the chemcodes in the example were in the system -and just needed to be picked.

Is this a new behaviour - and can we control it? I dont want day to day users creating chemcodes :/

Hi Justin,

There is no new behaviour around the ChemLookup tool in ESdat Desktop.  However there is one permissions change in if you have version 3.8+ of ESdat Server in that only Admin users can add ChemCodes.  If they have an old version of ESdat Desktop with that newer version of ESdat Server it may allow users to try to add a new ChemCode, but the server will reject it and they will get an error.
