We are about (early next week) to receive a large amount (2002,2003,2004 and 2008 monitoring rounds for 50-100 wells) of historical groundwater data . It will be in an access database format. Are there any issues receiving data in this format as far as importing into ESdat is concerned ? The fields in the access database are likely to be as follows Bore ID | -SampleID | Sample Date | Group | Analyte | Units | Conc | ND | Aquifer | The previous consultants on site have generated their own Sample ID’s which are a composite of the bore id, the date, and in some cases a prefix which I think refers to the grid (site is divided up in a grid pattern) the monitoring well is located in. I thought it might be a good idea to keep this ID rather than adopting the auto naming convention in ESdat in case we have to cross reference back to the original data. To disable the function in the historical chemistry import template for auto generating a samplecode is it just a matter of deleting the formula in cell A6 before pasting any dat in ??

Those fields look straightforward. You would use the Historical / Other Chemistry import template. The second of the two sheets / formats (columnar format) will be the best for this data.
If the samples have unique Sample IDs already I would recommend keeping them rather than generating a seperate set using the formulae provided. It is there to provide assistance if needed, but you don’t have to use it. The only requirement of the SampleCode is that it is unique for each sample. It can even be sequential numbers (1,2,23,4,etc..) if that were appropriate.
